Introduction:

For as long as I can remember, stories and poems have been the way I make sense of the world, and they remain an essential means of reflecting on my emotions. What better way to cope and understand your feelings than by letting a character you create live through them? Then there’s the enjoyment. Life is all about small details, yet they often go unnoticed. Poetry is a way for me to notice the little things in life and appreciate what I have more.

If you’ve found your way here, welcome. My name is C.D. Wisby. The majority of my writing consists of poetry about various themes, short stories (usually fiction), and writings about God. This place, though, is a space where I’ll share the things I’m learning as I grow as a writer–both the polished pieces and the messy process behind them. Not just about writing directly, but also what it teaches me about life.

What You Can Expect Here

  • Thoughts on writing: craft, creativity, and the mysterious middle spaces
  • Behind-the-scenes looks at my projects
  • Notes on the books and poems that shape me
  • Creative experiments
  • Honest reflections on what it means to be a writer
  • What writing is teaching me about life

Some posts will be technical. Some will be personal. Some will be small–like a flickering flame–but still useful for something. I hope that something here encourages your own creativity, whether you write, read, or simply love stories.

Why I’m Starting This Blog

The main reason lies in the purpose of writing itself; it’s not about a finished product, but the journey. And journeys feel a little less lonely when we walk them together. More than anything else, I just want a place where my thoughts can live outside my notebooks and head. Even if no one ever reads this, that’s okay–if nothing else, this will help me.

A Final Word

Thank you for being here at the very beginning. I’m excited to build this space with you–one word, one line, one story at a time. Here’s to the start of something meaningful.
